loved
their position oF power and authority more than
serving justice (Matthew 27:20-26)
“Now the prophet Habakkuk was in Judea; lie made a stew and had broken bread
into the bowl and was going into the field to take it to the reapers. But the
angel of the Lord said to Habakkuk, “Take the food you have to Babylon to
Daniel in the lion’s den.” (33,34)
.Iabkkuk is a Jewish name that means “embraced”.
God never forgets even the smallest of creatures let alone his own people. He
remembered Elijah and Saint Paul in their times of trouble. He protected them
and sent them food (Matt 6:31,33). This is precisely
what He did with Daniel because Daniel only proclaimed the Lord’s name and
never asked for food or drink.
CHAPTER SIX
THE ARGUMENTS FOR AND AGAINST THE C4NNONIC’ITY
OF THE BOOK OF DANIEL
I Some researchers find it difficult to accept that the Jews who were in
captivity in Babylon were allowed to have their own judges to manage their
affairs as mentioned in the story of Sussana (Daniel
13:5).
2. It has been argued that a woman like Sussana who
feared the Lord (Daniel 13:2) would not have bathed in the garden.
3. Some researchers have argued that the Jews could not have simply accepted a
judgment made by a young man who lacked the expertise and wisdom of the elders They have also argued that a judgment sentencing the two
elders to death could not have been made before exposing their corruption and
lies.
4. Hero the historian wrote that it was Kazrakis,
king of Persia, his name is also Arteheshta who
destroyed the temple of Bel and not Daniel as (Daniel
14:22). Arteheshta lived a long time after Cirus.
5. It’s been claimed that only the Egyptians
worshipped snakes and fishes. This would make it difficult to accept that a
great dragon in Babylon as mentioned in (Daniel 14:23) would have been
worshiped.
6. To accept that an angel carried Hahakkuk the
prophet by his hair and brought him from the land of Judas carrying food to
Daniel in the lion’s den is naïve and unacceptable.
