YULIANA EL KOMOS ISHAK
(OM SALIB)
Yuliana was born in the early 20th
century. She was born from a humble
family serving the church as her father was El Komos Ishak Ab Elmlak
who was famous for translating Coptic books.
From her son Amba Arsanious Oskof in El Menia who says that his mother’s love for the poor was so
great that every now and then she made a feast and asked him to take it to the
poor at night time so no one can see. She also made sure that this family prays
the kandil prayer when she went to their house. In her house she made sure her own family
followed the Coptic dogma from praying to fasting. Every week she fasts Wednesdays and
Fridays.
There are many tales about her
strong faith. One day there was a big
fire on the street where she lived.
Everyone was panicking and screaming but she remained calm as she stood
making the sign of the cross while saying that God will put out the tongues of
fire and the fire was soon extinguished with no one getting hurt. Another time her neighbor
was having difficulty giving birth for 3 days.
The neighbor called Yuliana
to pray for her and when Yuliana went inside the
house while praying the Lord’s prayer a baby girl was
born immediately. She went through some
trials when her older daughter passed away.
As she screamed of grief an angel came to hold her hand and asked her to
say “in the hour of my sorrow my God will not forget me, He will hold my right
hand and will strengthen my faith”. This
she kept repeating with the angel until her daughter was buried.
Dear reader,
The respectable mother Yuliana raised her children to obey and love God and one
another. She taught them fasting and
prayers. For this, one of her children
was a popular spiritual Oskof in El Menia. Remember that
the first school is the mother. God will
assist us through her and her son Amba Arsanious prayers.
Remember me in
your prayers.
