went up with me from Babylon, in the reign
of King Artaxerxes: of the Sons of Phinehas, Gershom; of the Sons of
Ithamar, Daniel; of the sons of David, ilattusli” (Ezra 8:1-2).
It is also mentioned that in the time of Nehemiah, the leaders, priests and
Levies affixed their seals on a binding agreement requiring the people at
the time to abide the Law of God Daniel the priest was one of those who affixed
their seal to this binding agreement. (Nehemiah 10:6).
2. Daniel the second son of David the king and prophet. He was born in Hebron
for David after his firstborn Amnion. His mother was Abigail the widow of
Nabal. He is mentioned in the Holy Bible by the names of Kileab and Daniel.
“Sons were born to David in Hebron: His firstborn was Amnon
by Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;
his second, Chuleab, by Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite; the thIrd,
Absalom the son of Maacah, the daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur.” (2 Samuel 3:2-3).
“Now these were the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron:
The firstborn was Aninon, by Ahinoam
the Jezreelitess; the second, Daniel, by Ahigail the Carnielitess; “(1 Chronicles
3:1).
3. Daniel whose name is mentioned several times in the book of Ezekiel:
“Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver
only themselves by their righteousness’, says the Lord God. “(Ezekiel 14:14).
“Even though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live,” says the Lord God,
“they would deliver neither son nor daughter; they would deliver [only] themselves
by their righteousness.” (Ezekiel 14:20).
“Behold, you are wiser than Daniel! There is no secret that can be hidden
from you!” (Ezekiel 28:3).
This third person who is wise and from whom no secrets are hidden is said
to be Daniel the prophet, the writer of the book of Daniel. This is also justified
by the fact that the description offered in Ezekiel about Daniel is similar
to that of Daniel the prophet in the hook of Daniel:
“As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature
and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.” (Daniel
1:17).
“And in all matters of wisdom [and] understanding about which the king examined
them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers
who were in all his realm” (Daniel 1:20)
“Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed
the God of heaven,” (Daniel 2:19).
